Front Foot:
Looked to play positively, strong area outside off-stump and showed a willingness to get hands through the ball when of a full'ish length on that line. Looked to work across a few balls which were relatively straight on the stumps

Areas to work on:
- Very low dip downwards into initial movement as the ball is about to released, that can get the hands quite low, making it harder to time balls effectively (consistently), encourage a fair amount of weight to go downwards (back leg collapsing). When hands get quite low it's also encouraging the bat to push outwards towards gully line (see yellow markings below) and thus, will encourage the downswing to be towards mid-on/mid-wicket. The image below is of a ball arriving on around middle and leg, but see head position and where the bat has come from; makes it difficult to get down the ground towards mid-on. - Try to stay a little more upright in stance, for slightly longer - a little keen to get moving and weight transfers towards the off-side quite early and therefore can make it more difficult to score down the ground to seam bowlers of a decent pace (with so much weight falling off-side it will encourage hands to work the ball towards mid-wicket area with head pushing in the opposite direction. This is especially the case with the backswing taken up and out towards gully angle. Think about low risk early doors, and giving yourself that chance to play down the ground, created by remaining more upright and not quite going as low at that first movement. |

Back Foot:
- Balls outside off-stump try to get 'in behind' a little better by taking front foot across to allow hands and the bat to flow through the line of the ball. Tendancy to go back and across back foot but then leave front foot opened up (which would be beneficial to straighter balls to allow the hands to come down on that line) and thus, hands looking to pull the bat across towards mid-wicket (exaggerated by batswing going out towards gully, also). |
