Areas focused on:
- Balanced pickup/backswing in stance - comfortable and providing an area to take the bat upwards slightly to generate a good amount of hand/bat speed when looking to be positive and yet still allow for maintaining the shape of the full face on the downswing
- Head remaining upright and level, offering good chance to play down the ground to straight'ish balls
- Offering hands the chance to work together and compliment the strong positions Jack can get into.
- Back Foot; Remaining more side on to balls of off-stump and just outside which will offer greater opportunity to release the hands through the ball better (as opposed to sometimes playing a bit away from body and also leaving front foot open encouraging shoulders to get square and hands potentially trying to pull a little leg-side)

Feedback:
Likes to play positively and is keen to get his hands through balls but is selective with what he does/doesn't. Sometimes a fraction late on balls which he looks to get his handsthrough and that could stem from a high backswing and then looking to go slightly higher, looking to generate power on the downswing which can make him that split second late. Can tend to hit some balls squarer than 'ideal' due to being a little open with the face on occasions which can be amplified when he looks to get his hands through the ball quickly, as the bottom hand has a tendency to open (top hand can't keep up quick enough to maintain full face). Gets in some fantastic positions on back foot, tends to stay fairly side on when off stump and just outside and gets 'in-behind' balls well as opposed to playing too far away from his body. Can get a little 'slicey' through backward point angle on the odd occasion (ensure hands are working together and top hand maintaining full face as much as possible). |
Areas to work on:
- Try to create a 'comfortable' backswing which feels purposeful, but allows for the opportunity to take the bat up slightly when looking to generate a good level of bat speed. - Be careful starting with face slightly open as that can then run the risk of not getting as good a contact on the ball on occasions courtesy of a 'slicing' kind of effect, as opposed to enabling as much of the full face through on contact. - Ensure hands are working together, even when looking to work quickly through the ball (get plenty of strength from top hand to allow full face through and compliment bottom hand) - Back foot work with more strength through top hand, wrist, forearm; allowing for a better contact courtesy of being able to setup a fuller face of the bat when striking. |
