Coaching Profile:
Daniel Airstone
Bowling
Smooth run up in the main and remains under control throughout, however does tend to slow up into delivery. Well aligned throughout run up but loses that a little courtesy of a slight jump into delivery stride. That can make it a bit harder to carry momentum through the crease. Good control and hits a good area consistently. Areas for Improvement - Ensure momentum is built up during run up, accelerating into delivery and carrying that momentum through - Alignment; last few strides ensure are as straight (simpler and easier to carry momentum straight forwards towards the target) as possible - Bowling arm; load up more purposely to gather momentum up and transfer through ball release |

Stance
-Ensure feet don't start "too" open as hips, hands and shoulders are also likely to open and higher risk of hands pulling towards the leg side across straight balls (pic shows on the left when Daniel tends to be a bit too "open" I'd say which will restrict how far he can get across outside off-stump also). - Bat Lift: try to have bat balancing comfortably as straight as possible to be in a good position to then take up slightly to generate bat speed when looking to attack balls. At present bat is quite static and struggles to generate much bat speed as a result. Tactical Approach Watchful to straighter balls and waits to latch onto width outside off stump. Front foot tends to plant in a similar place consistently (relatively straight down the middle of the pitch) and therefore when chasing balls outside off, heavily reliant on just hands to make contact playing away from the body. |
Areas for Improvement
- Make sure feet are in line or only slightly open so as to not sacrifice too much outside off-stump, or have an increased likelihood of hands pulling towards the leg side by starting too "open" that way
- Outside off-stump work on getting closer to balls with front foot & head working in unison. The closer they get to balls (front foot) and over balls (head) the more likely Daniel is to hit and hit well.
- Balls angled towards the legs try to look to work a little straighter ideally (less risk), whereas balls which are brushing the back of the legs in stance or wider can be worked across between mid-wicket & fine leg areas
