STUART GUY

Stuart Guy is a highly experienced cricket coach with nearly 20 years of expertise across a wide range of environments, working with players from grassroots level through to professional cricketers.

He is currently Head of Cricket Performance at Scarborough College, an independent school that runs its own Cricket Centre of Excellence, attracting talented players from across the UK and overseas. Working in partnership with Head of Cricket Piet Rinke, Stuart has overseen a period of outstanding national success:

  • 2025 – U18 Girls T20 National Champions, U13 Boys National Cup winners, U15 Boys National Semi-Finalists
  • 2024 – U15 National One Day Cup winners, T20 runners-up to Harrow

Prior to his role at Scarborough, Stuart spent several years within the Yorkshire CCC age-group system, guiding the U15s to back-to-back National titles in 2017 and 2018, and narrowly missing a hat-trick in the 2019 final.

​He later served as Head of the Boys Pathway Programme (2018–2021), where he managed winter training across Yorkshire’s district, regional, and county players. His work in line with the ECB Talent Identification process has also strengthened his private coaching practice, where he helps promising young cricketers develop across technical, tactical, physical, and mental domains.

Stuart’s coaching experience extends internationally. He has:

  • Assisted Liam Plunkett in launching academies in the USA, delivering programmes and providing match-day analysis and support
  • Served as assistant coach for Gibraltar at an ICC T20 Europe Qualifier in the Netherlands and a Triangular tournament in Spain
  • Delivered specialist coaching sessions in Denmark, working with the country’s most promising players
  • Travelled to Cape Town with Yorkshire Cricket Coaching Ltd to deliver advanced player development programmes​

Although he rarely plays competitively today, Stuart was previously a regular in the Yorkshire Premier League and South Yorkshire Premier League, representing Doncaster Town, Rotherham Town, Wickersley, and Treeton.
Coming from a proud cricketing family, Stuart’s father represented Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire 2nd XI sides, turning down a professional contract with Worcestershire, while his brother enjoyed a 15-year professional career with Yorkshire CCC.

Alongside his cricket coaching credentials, Stuart is a Level 3 Performance Coach, a qualified fitness instructor, and an ALTIS-certified short sprints coach, adding specialist expertise in athletic development to his cricket knowledge and experience.

JACK CARNEY
A wicket-keeper batsman who came through the Lancashire age group system and has represented the county at Academy and 2nd XI level. Jack also played for England U19's including as first choice keeper/batter in the U19 World Cup in 2024.
